Application for Admission
Application to the ESL Center is open to all who are at least 17 years of age, have completed high school, have adequate funds to pay fees, and are motivated to attend all classes, do all homework, and follow the United States, University of Minnesota, and program policies and rules.  The ESL application form is available by clicking here.  The form must be signed and include two letters of reference, bank letter, financial statement. Make the application fee payable to the University of Minnesota, Crookston.  Completed forms are to be sent to ESL, 240 Student Center, University of Minnesota, Crookston, 2900 University Ave., Crookston, MN 56716. Steps for Application:

1. Fill out the application form and financial declaration.

2. Retrieve abank statement from your bank or your parents’ bank.
It must cover at least 1 year cost at UMC.

3. Retrieve the transcript from your former high school school an/or university. If you are not a University student, you do not need to send the University transcript.

4. Complete the essay about yourself and retrieve two recommendation letters.

5. Send all application materials as soon as possible.

6. Upon receipt of application materials an I-20 form and admission process begins at UMC.

7. Arrange a meeting or visit to the US Embassy in your country to obtain a student VISA to attend UMC as a student.

8. Arrange your VISA interview with I-20.

9. Once student VISA is confirmed, F-1, work with UMC to arrange plane ticket. Ticket purchase and charge is responsibility of the student.

10. Work with UMC to arrange on campus housing and complete immunization records for University records.
