REGISTERING
There are three options for registering for UMC Distance Education courses. Choose the option that best describes you:

  1. Currently admitted to a UMC degree program:
If you are currently admitted to a UMC degree program, you may register online if you meet the eligibility requirements, in person at the One-Stop or you may contact someone in Center for Adult Learning office by email at umonline@umn.edu or by phone at 218/281-8681.

  2. Plan to complete a degree at UMC but have not yet applied for admission:
If you plan to complete a degree at UMC and have not yet applied for admission, please follow the instructions to be admitted to UMC as a Degree seeking student (Admission to UMC) first, then register following the process described in the option above.

  3. Wish to register for classes, but don't plan to enroll in a UMC degree program:
If you wish to register for a class, but don't plan to enroll in a UMC degree program, first complete the admission process for a Non-Degree Seeking Student at the Distance Education Admissions site (Admission to UMC). Once admitted you may then contact the Center for Adult Learning to register over the phone or via email.

Call us at 1-800-UMC-MINN, extension 8681 or email us at UMOnline@umn.edu.

WEB REGISTRATION
To register online, please first be sure that you are eligible for online registration. If you are not eligible for online registration, please select the an alternative registration option listed above on this page.
Eligibility for Self-Registration
Students must meet two criteria in order to be eligible to self-register using the web:
  • You must be an officially admitted degree-seeking student (PSEOA, Non-Degree, and College in the High School students are NOT eligible), and
  • You must have a UMC cumulative GPA of at least a 2.00. All other students MUST register in-person. All in-person registrations require adviser approvals.
General Information for Self-Registration
Registration is available on the World Wide Web, on or after your scheduled registration time, using Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator, version 3.0 or higher. You can find out your scheduled registration time by calling the Golden Eagle Informer Line (218-281-8636), by logging on to the web registration site, or by referring to the printed Registration Queue in the semester course schedule.
Web self-registration is available Monday - Thursday from 7:00 a.m.-12:00 midnight, Friday from 7:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m., and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., except on official University holidays. In-person registration is available at the Office of the Registrar, 9 Hill Hall, 8:30 a.m.-4:15 p.m., Monday - Friday.
How Registration Works
Please see the detailed instructions on “Using the System to View Your Information” at: http://onestop.umcrookston.edu/registration/
For assistance with web registration, use the help buttons listed on the registration screens. Web registration can be an easy process if you follow these simple steps.
  • Clear at the appropriate office any “holds” you may have on your record. You can determine if you have any holds by calling the Golden Eagle Informer Line (218-281-8636), or by logging on to the web registration site.
  • Review the class schedule and /or use the web Course Planner to identify courses appropriate to your needs. The class schedule is available in printed versions and on-line. Make sure you have completed specific prerequisites before registering for a course.
  • Complete a sample Schedule Worksheet including possible alternative courses to substitute for closed sections/courses. You can check to determine if classes are “open” or “closed” by reviewing the section status reports on-line.
  • Meet with your faculty adviser to discuss your program needs, review your course selections, and finalize your planned schedule. Make an appointment with your adviser sufficiently early to do this before your scheduled registration time. Although an adviser’s signature is not required for self-registration it is strongly recommended that you consult with your adviser to insure appropriate course selections.
Registering for Classes after the Deadline
